Q. What is Music Together®?

A:Music Together® is an internationally recognized music and movement program for children from birth through age five. It is based on the research-backed premise that all children are born able to appreciate music, keep a beat and sing in tune if those skills are nurtured. Music Together classes help your child develop those life-long skills while they are having a great time with their very favorite playmate—YOU! For more information about the Music Together philosophy and the program’s history, visit musictogether.com.

Q. I’d like bring my child to MUSICare but I can’t carry a tune. Does that matter?

A. Not at all! The important thing for your child is that you are having fun with music TOGETHER! It does not matter whether you have a musical background or not, your child will still love singing, dancing, and having fun with you.

Q. Why are children of all ages together in the classes?

A. Our classes are family classes, with children from birth through five all learning together and from each other.  Younger children learn by observing the older children, while older children enjoy the opportunity to show the younger ones how it’s done. It also makes it convenient for parents with more than one child to bring the whole family to one class!

Q. Can infants and toddlers really learn music?

A. Music Together classes aren’t intended to teach your child to read music or play an instrument. What we are doing is building the basic competencies that will help them to be ready to do that when we’re older. The premise behind the classes is that all children are born with the natural ability to sing in tune and keep a beat. However, just as a child who isn’t exposed to someone speaking to and with them will have a hard time learning basic language skills, a child who does not have the opportunity to actively participate in musical activities such as singing, dancing, exploring instruments, etc., will have a harder time with basic music competency. Passively listening to music on television, the radio, etc, is good, but getting to sing and dance and have fun with music with one of their favorite people is much better for developing a good musical foundation. In addition, we teach you–your child’s first and best teacher–to interact musically with your child, which not only builds musical skills but supports the development of language skills, executive functions. motor skills, and more while also enhancing the bonds between you and your favorite child.

Q. My schedule doesn’t allow me to bring my child. Can my parent/sister/nanny/other caregiver bring my child to class?

A. YES! We have many grandparents who bring their grandbabies to class, as well as nannies, au pairs, aunts, uncles, and others. Anyone you designate can bring your child to class and will be welcome.

Q. Where are you located?

A. Our classes are held in a dedicated class space in the former Seton Catholic High School, 37 William Street, Pittston. Free parking is available in the lot to the left of the building (between the school and the gym). Enter through the glass vestibule on the side of the building, and a sign inside will point the way to our class space.

Q. I have more questions. How can I speak to someone?
